The feeling just after you are officially engaged can sometimes be overwhelming. After you get over the shock and immense happiness, you are struck with the question; where do I begin? So much to do in so little time, and having no experience at planning a weddings before, you panic! We have come up with a simple list of the first things you need to do to begin on the road towards your special day.

SET A BUDGET

The first step before choosing anything else is to sit down with your future spouse and discuss how much you want to spend, who will be financially responsible, and who will be in charge of paying the different aspects of the wedding. It is important to always have in mind what your budget is for different things such as venue, flowers, dress, entertainment, food, etc.

PICK A LOCATION AND VENUE

Where do you want your wedding to be? Do you want your wedding to be a destination wedding in a far off resort, or would you rather have your special day close to home? It is one of the most important decisions to make because this location will be the one you remember for the rest of your life. After choosing a location it is essential to visit venues and book the perfect one for your big day as soon as possible. Depending on where you are, many venues can have no available spaces in long times. Therefore, don’t wait on this one!

SET YOUR DATE

This choice will be influenced by many other factors. You need to take into consideration how much time you think you will need to plan your wedding, if the venue you want is available, and if the weather is ideal for the occasion. You also have to know if you want your date to be during the weekend, or during a holiday. It is important to choose the date you feel the most comfortable with and make sure this date is available in the venue.

PICKING THE BRIDESMAIDS AND GROOMSMEN

You know who the most important friends in your life are, and you know you want them standing next to you on your big day. They are the people who will help you through this journey and will offer all types of support. Take into consideration who you want to give this honor to, and let them know if they are willing to stand by your side during this process so they can prepare themselves.

GUEST LIST

Making a guest list is one of the most important parts of your big day, because what makes the wedding better than people? It is sometimes very difficult to come up with the perfect list. There are so many people you want to invite, but the number of people you can actually invite is sometimes much less. Be sure to start by writing down the essentials like your closest friends and family, and then afterwards listing the rest of the guests.

PLAN AHEAD

When planning a wedding, many things can be forgotten due to all the stress and all of the aspects you have to have in mind. This is why it is highly recommended to make a list of what has to be done, and what is already done.

Planner should be kept to be up to date with any appointments you might have, and to make sure you are not lost on any dates. The most important thing is to be organized and to be always planning ahead!
